16’ x 27’ mural for Paint Memphis 2024 portrays a woman and her reflection. It represents different generations supporting each other: the black and white reflection symbolizes the past, the central figure is the present, and the reaching hand signifies the future. Despite diverse experiences, we remain united in our ongoing struggle as women, and we still mirror each other.
This work uplifts young women and Latinas (future generations) and encourages them to embrace their identity. Be proud and know that you belong.
The tattoo. I always infuse a personal touch into my work. The tattoo symbolizes my love, history, and grief. I drove up to Memphis for the fest on Oct 9th, which was exactly 13 years after I drove up to adopt Bauer, my soul dog. I just had to add an ode to him in my first Memphis mural. And of course, I included my current dog, Maybelle, too - couldn’t leave her out!
